Responsiblities/Duties of the School Site Council Members:
Work as a team with other advisory group representatives to develop the SPSA for our school consistent with EUSD goals.
Recommend the SPSA Plan to the local governing board for approval.
Monitor implementation of the SPSA Plan.
Annually review and revise the SPSA Plan.
Regularly attend scheduled SSC meetings
The School Site Council (SSC) is a school community’s representative body, made up of school staff, parents/community members, and at the secondary level, students. The primary responsibility of the SSC is to participate in the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
A School Site council shall be established at each school which participates in school-based program coordination. The council shall be composed of the principal and representatives of: teachers selected by teachers at the school; other school personnel selected by other school personnel at the school; parents of pupils attending the school selected by such parents; and, in secondary schools, pupils selected by pupils attending the school.
At the elementary level, the minimum council size is 10 members.
At the secondary level, the minimum council size is 12.
Student Participation is optional at the middle school level.
California Education Code 64001 states:
... School districts shall assure...that the Single Plan for [Student] Achievement has been prepared in accordance with the law, that schoolsite councils have developed and approved a plan...and that [the] plans were developed with the review , certification, and advise of any applicable school advisory committees.
