Ridgeview.  If you have leads/ideas please contact Kate.

6.  Jog/Color Run Preview (Heidi)
The history of raising funds at OHRV was explained.  In the past, parents wanted to “just donate” to the parent teacher club.  Over time, funds declined and parents expressed a desire to have more involved fundraising for students/families.  A school-wide, community event would allow for positive involvement and opportunities to learn about education needs.  Jog idea to raise funds was well received.  This is the one and only big fundraiser for Oakhills and Ridgeview.  Every child is asked to participate, teachers play an important role.

See attachment of 2023/2024 Fundraising Events Proposal report provided and shared by Heidi Horch, VP Events.

Brian Patterson should be able to involve The Club.

7.  Business from the floor
A question from a parent member (Srikanth Pagadala) about what is available on the school campus’ similar to science/math Olympiad, chess club, field trips, or coding.  Kids want extra clubs during/after school.  We talked about pre-covid Destination Imagination teams organized by teachers based out of Olympus, Excelsior and Greenhills.  Parent led teams.  Srikanth had spoken to Ginna Myers about question.  School staff may be at capacity and cannot lead.  Logistics of a program may be an issue.
What would parents need to be cleared to lead these programs?  The interest for clubs is there.  Lunch bunch is run by the counselor at RV, chess club is usually once a month.

Wednesday, February 7, 2024 is the next PTC meeting 11:30-1pm.  Room 606

1.   Welcome & Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Kate Anderson and Crystal Howard at 11:30 am.
Ridgeview Room 606

2.  Principal / Teacher Update
Principal O’Brien – attending a meeting in Auburn
Principal Zatzke – attending 6th grade outdoor education
Mrs. Glace (2nd) – working with new math curriculum and having to pre-teach some concepts as the students did not learn it in 1st grade.  Students like the challenge.  The pumpkin store is coming up.  Students will buy their decorations for pumpkin decorating craft.
Mrs. McArdle (3rd) – The math program is more vigorous.  Multiplication began right away and now the kids are doing division.  Kids are working on book reports and salt dough maps.  Spotlight is a new concept for 3rd grade.  Kids are grouped according to learning gaps and visit a specific 3rd grade teacher for review of material.

3.  Book Fair Update (Kate on behalf of Erin)
Total book fair sales was $28,239.
Scholastic offers a few options on how to receive payment from our profits.  Our PTC opted to receive a split payout of half as scholastic dollars $7400 (50% comes back) and half as cash $3359 (25% comes back).  Scholastic dollars are used for teachers and librarians for their boxes.  Cash goes to PTC income and for small number of students with book vouchers.

Thank you to volunteers for set-up, book fair sale help and clean-up.

4.  Fall Fest 2023 Update (Cheryl)
Spread the word, we need volunteers.  Ask your friends.
Event begins at 4:30pm, raffle tickets sold on site, raffle drawing winners announced at 6:30pm.  Winners will be posted on social media with 30 days to claim.
Classes are excited about scarecrow making contest.  A few scarecrow entries are in the art docent room.
Social media post about spirit wear sales during festival as well as food that will be available for purchase.  Payments of cash or credit card by square for day of festival entry, raffle tickets or chick-fil-A purchases.
PTC Board members arrive for set-up at 3pm in neon yellow shirt.

5.  OHRV Club Update (Brian Patterson)
Brian is wearing the new Club red vest.  60 people involved.  55 dads, 5 moms.  Membership dues collected ($50/member) with plan to use for projects around the school or for playground equipment.  $8350 raised in Sept with help of matching donations of two Club members.  Year to date The Club has raised $10,000.  The Club helps with Wednesday recess.  Planning for social events and possibly a basketball fundraiser.  The Club helped with crossing guard duty while Johnny was on vacation.  The Club filled in for Serve Day for Bayside  Church when they did not have volunteers to help with campus clean-up.  Volunteers helped spread mulch at OH / RV and cleaned up the brush area near STAR and beyond the grass and playground areas.  Good idea to add a net to prevent balls from going into this area over the fence.

6.  Business from the floor
Treasurer update from Amie Taylor. PTC has been funding grade level expenses such as: TK kitchen zone and playgroup carts.
1st grade headphones and 3rd grade supplies for their workspaces.
ESGI learning license, handwriting without tears program.
BMX assembly for both Oakhills and Ridgeview.
Ridgeview planners, Wednesday folders.
OH library cards to check out books in room.

Amie suggested a longer term for treasurer position given the time it takes to learn the job.  Possibly consider a 4 year term and a 2 year term.  Ideally the  person in the role will have a tax/accounting background.  The PTC will need to discuss and propose a bylaw change.

Spirit fundraiser at Nuyo or Chick fil A in future (Lori). March 5, 2024 for Chick-fil-A.

Discussed buddy bench at OH and RV.   Talk of Super Coyote club returning.

Wednesday November 8, 2023 is next PTC meeting 11:30-1pm  Room 606

8.  Adjourn meeting
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Kate Anderson and second by Crystal Howard at 12:25 pm.
