Eureka Union School District wants every student to leave the district with the skills necessary to be ready to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Instilling the values and teaching the skills to students to prepare them for college and career readiness: academically, socially, and emotionally. School Counselors are the only professionals that have received specialized training in academic, personal/social, and career domains. EUSD values all components of their students, and knows that when a student has social and emotional difficulties occurring in their lives, that they are unable to access learning. Ridgeview students have regular and on-going access to their Counselor, with the goal being to increase academic success, positive social interactions, and attendance.

Monika Brockway, M.S. LPCC 740Top of Page

I attended C.S.U. Northridge, where I earned a B.A. in Psychology and Child Development. I went on to receive a M.S. in Counseling from Oregon State University and passed The National Counseling Exam to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I am also licensed to practice in California.

During graduate school, I worked as a Child and Family Therapist Intern in a residential and outpatient facility for kids with emotional disturbances and also in a school for children with special needs as a play therapist. While finishing up graduate school I was hired as a School Counselor. During that time I also had a private practice, where I worked with kids and their families, and taught parenting classes in the evenings. I have been a guest speaker at Oregon State University, talking to undergraduates about multiculturalism and identity issues for kids who are 1st or 2nd generation American.

I am trained as a facilitator in Love and Logic Parenting. The program is offered to parents in E.U.S.D. In 2011, I received my Early Childhood Special Education Credential from C.S.U. Sacramento.

In my personal life, I have two active boys and a house full of pets ranging from our family dog “Buddy” to our chinchilla “Puffle”. They all keep me busy with lots of extra curricular activities. We enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors; hiking, skiing and fishing.
