Not happy with your child's grades? Help is here! :)

  • Is your child doing homework every night? If the answer is no, you just found your answer.
  • Are you looking over your child’s homework to check it for completeness, correctness and quality? If the answer is no, you just found another answer.
  • Is your child studying every night? If your answer is no, you just found a third answer!

READING
  • Is it difficult for your child to read? In other words, does your child struggle to pronounce words? When your child reads to you, is it choppy and filled with pauses? Then I suggest reading every reading assignment with your child at home.
  • Does your child struggle with comprehension, understanding what is being read? Then I suggest reading every reading assignment with your child at home.

WRITING
  • Whenever your child has a writing assignment, read it out loud together and give your child pointers on how to make their story more powerful.
  • Check your child’s writing. Check for correct punctuation, like periods at the end of sentences. Check for correct capitalization. Check for correct spelling. Check for fragments (incomplete sentences) and run-ons (three or more sentences written as one sentence). You don't have to be a pro at writing. That's my job. Just follow my suggestions and you will see results. I promise.

MATH
Is your child studying every night? Here's how to do it.
A) Your child should be in the habit of circling all of their incorrect answers as they are corrected in class. B) Your child should write the correct answer next to the incorrect one. C) When your child gets home, they should rework the incorrect problem until they can get the correct answer twice in a row.
That’s how one studies for math.

SOCIAL STUDIES & SCIENCE
  • Your child should memorize all the terms for the day. That means every day your child is committing to memory one or more facts learned on that day.
  • Check your child’s written homework. Is your child writing complete sentences? Is your child starting answers with capital letters and ending with periods?

SPELLING
  • Do you look over your child’s homework every night? It is surprising to me how many students misspell their words day after day in their spelling homework. Then, on test day, they have become proficient at misspelling their words. The exact opposite of what I want to accomplish with the homework.
  • Doing no more than the daily homework is not enough to score 100% on a spelling test. Quiz your child and have him/her write the answers. Spelling a word out loud, although simple and quick, is not as powerful as writing the spelling word on a piece of paper.

I have found over the course of my career that following these steps will lead to the success you are hoping to see in your child.

Their passwords are Eu-student number.

If a student has a hyphenated last name, only the name before the hyphen was used.

If a student has spaces in their last name, they have been omitted.

If a student has an apostrophe in their last name, it has been omitted.
