I have been teaching 6th grade at Ridgeview School since August of 2009. Prior to 2009, I taught 6th grade at Eureka School for 21 years, two years of 6th grade in Lincoln, California, and 5 years of high school, junior high and 6th grade in a wonderful Christian school in Yuba City. I have been an integral part of outdoor education at all four of these schools, including starting two brand new outdoor ed programs at two of these schools, leading the singing and bringing many innovative ideas to our present science camp.
My dad and my grandma were both 6th grade teachers.
I married my wife in 1982, and we have three adult daughters. My wife was a registered respiratory therapist for 7 years. She retired from that job and became a full time mom to our three daughters for 20 years. Connie went back to college to earn her masters degree and was awarded "Most Likely to Change the World" by her professors upon graduation. She is presently a marriage-family therapist in Granite Bay. Our daughters attended Roseville City schools and then went on to Oakmont High School. Our youngest and oldest daughters were section leaders of the marching band and pole vaulters on the track team while in high school, where they both broke the school record. Our middle daughter was part of the dance team and a varsity cheerleader. All three were transferred to Eureka School in each of their 6th grade years so they could enjoy being in their daddy's class. Our oldest earned her bachelor degree from Humboldt State University (and set the school's pole vault record) and then her masters degree from the University of Wisconsin and is currently working with deer as a field biologist in Maine. Our second oldest graduated from the University of California Berkeley as a double major and currently works for international advertising agency AKQA in New York City as an art director. Our youngest earned her bachelor degree from Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo (and pole vaulted on their track team) and her DVM from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and an animal acupuncture certificate. Currently she is a jockey racing on the east coast circuit while working part-time as a veterinarian.
My hobbies include road cycling, mountain biking, back packing, fishing, snorkeling, golf, pickleball, tennis, piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, reading and French. I love the outdoors and prefer the mountains and ocean to the city any day. I love going to college football games and have performed at several half time shows with the USC Trojan Alumni Marching Band. The pictures above are of me with a fraternity brother at a USC football game and a picture of my oldest daughter at a University of Wisconsin football game I attended with her.
